Endovascular Treatment of the Ruptured Pseudoaneurysm of Common Femoral Artery in Behcet’s Disease

About Behjat's disease

Behcet's disease (BD) is a vasculitis condition that affects arteries and veins of various sizes. The disease usually appears between the third and fourth decade of life. The disease is more common in men, it is also more common in the veins. Arterial involvement can take the form of both arterial occlusion and arterial wall aneurysm formation. One of the main causes of complications and mortality in these patients is arterial involvement. Surgical and endovascular procedures in these patients are challenging due to the high risk of procedural complications, including arterial rupture, anastomotic aneurysm, graft infection, and graft obstruction or stenosis. However, in cases where there is a ruptured aneurysm or overt ischemia of the limb, immediate intervention is necessary.

Treatment

Here is a case of a 41-year-old man with a medical history of BD and bilateral blindness who presented with sudden onset of pain and swelling in his left groin. The patient was diagnosed with a large false rupture of the left common femoral artery (CFA) that originated in the superficial and deep femoral arteries. The patient was successfully treated by endovascular stent placement.
